Final Breif

Welcome back to the blog, I am excited to say that we have completed our film introduction brief, below is the final product.

Film Name: Stuffed
Made by: Musa Umarally, Gino Romero, and Rayan Bhatti

Production: Final Touches

Welcome back to the blog, today we finished up our film introduction. This means wrapping it up and fixing any small errors, this includes brighting a few scenes to make them easier to see. We also moved around some of the credits to prevent them from blocking any action within the scene. Finally, we made the title font into a bolder brighter one to make it pop more. Now that we finished the film introduction all we need to do is export it and we will be able to post it. After that we will work on our CCR questions and wrap up this section of the course.

Production: Music

Welcome back to the blog, after searching for some background music for our film introduction we have finally found one. We used a website called PixaBay to download the music for free. The music is very suspenseful and follows the visuals of the film very well, it adds a nice touch that ties all the clips together nicely. Now that we have the music added all we got to do is any finishing touches such as adjusting any color or audio discrepancies. After we do this we will be done with our final brief.

Production: Opening Credits

Welcome back to the blog, today I finished adding the remainder of the opening credits. This includes our names as well as some made up names and production companies to make our film introduction feel more real. The credits were done in a red script-like font so they would be easily distinguishable from their background while fitting a horror theme. The credits also fade in and out to make them better integrated with the overall film. Now that we have completed the credits all that we must do is add the music and then we will be finished with our brief. We intend to finish the music today and make any final touches so that we will be done by tomorrow.

Production: Credits Marking

Welcome back to the blog, today I began marking the film introduction for where we are going to place to credits. This includes many of the large empty parts of the scene where text can easily be seen without interfering with the visuals. The credits will help to set the tone of the film while signifying its place as a introduction. We intend to use our names and come of with some made up ones to fill out the scene. We intend to fill in the names and add the music on monday and then we will be done with our film introduction.

Production: Sound Effects

Welcome back to the blog, today I began adding the sound effects of our film introduction. This includes footsteps at the end of the film when Gino walks towards the box and picks it up, due to his shoes there was no footsteps so I downloaded a free footstep sound off of Pixabay. The I added it to the film introduction and synced it up with the footage. I also added the screaming sound for when the bear attacks, I downloaded it from the same site and edited it to fade out. The last sound effect I added was a creepy child singing a song which adds to the overall mood of the scene. It is different than what we originally intended to do with a child laughing throughout the scenes with the bear, however because I couldn't find a sound that worked so the singing was used instead. Now that the sound effects are done all that needs to be completed is the music and the credits, me and my group intend to do these on Monday.

Production: Editing Color Finalization

Welcome back to the blog, today I finished up the color grading of the film introduction. It was a lengthy process due to our poor lighting however I was able to finish it. I added filters and adjusted the exposure and saturation and other effects in order to make the film introduction work better. I also made the scene get slightly darker over time to help signify the horror effect and hint at what's to happen. The result is subtle but it heavily improves the films overall look and feel. Now that color grading is complete all that's left to do is to add the credits and the sound. We intend to do this over the weekend and on monday so that we will be completely finished by the due date on March 19th

Production: Editing Color Reasearch

Welcome back to the blog, today I was able to get the film introduction files onto my home computer in order to start editing. I began to edit the color however I realized it was much more complicated than I had originally anticipated. So I began to revisit some of my old research on using Adobe Premiere Pro and color grading. After looking back and also watching a couple new videos I had a better understanding on how to properly color grade. Our filming had pretty bad lighting and colors so to fix the color it will take a large amount of work, so I was only able to get a little of it completed. Tomorrow I intend to complete the rest of the color and light editing then begin on adding the credits and sound.

Some videos I watched to get a better understanding of color grading:

Production: Editing & Reshoots

Welcome back to the blog, today we began our reshoots. All we had to do was was place the box back on the chair, place the bear inside and tape it up. Then I was filmed cutting open the box and zooming in on the bear.  The overall process was relatively simple and we were able to add the new shot into our film introduction. While we were filming the reshoots we decided to add a little more to the end of our film introduction to create a better setup for the rest of the film. This included Gino picking up the box and walking away without showing his face. This allows for the overall film introduction to be more ominous and mysterious. After we filmed all of this we added it to our final film introduction and now have the entire sequence completed. All that we have left to do is add the sound and music, fix the lighting, and add the credits. We intend to do all this tomorrow and over the weekend so we may be finished on time.

The shot that we refilmed.

Production: Editing 1

Welcome back to the blog, a couple of days ago me and my team began the editing of our film introduction. We were able to transport all of our clips onto the computer and into Adobe Premiere Pro so we would be able to begin editing. After we imported all our separate clips we then started to arrange them in the correct order however, we came across an issue. One of the shots that we filmed was shot vertically as opposed to horizontally, this messes up our film introduction as all the other shots were horizontal whilst this one isn't. Thankfully it is a simple over the shoulder shot with a panning zoom, and we intend to reshoot it in a couple days. So as of now we have our film introduction properly ordered and now we need to reshoot the one shot, add the credits, fix the coloring, and add sound. Over the rest of the week we will begin to tackle each one of these so our film introduction can be completely finished by March 19th.

The shot that we intend to refilm.

Production: Filming 2

Welcome back to the blog, yesterday me and my group finished filming the remainder of our film introduction. During the filming we encountered some new problems such as figuring out how to get the teddy bear to jump out and attack. We solved this by having Rayan throw the bear while Gino filmed and I acted. This allowed us to capture the shot and complete filming. We also changed from having Gino film the second part at home to filming it in a different part of the classroom. This is because of us filming for the second time allowed us to be more familiar with the filming process making it go smoother. With the entirety of the filming done we are ready to move on to the editing process. Over the coming week we will start and finish editing and be done with the film introduction.

Production: Filming 1

Welcome back to the blog, today we began filming the first scene of our film introduction. We filmed inside of our teachers storage closet as it provided a quiet space that also allowed for the scene to fit the overall theme well. During the filming we came across some issues such as figuring out what type of camera shots to use as well as the best way to position the camera to achieve the desired camera shots. We overcame these issues and were able to finish filming half of the first scene. Tomorrow we will try to finish the remainder of the first scene and Gino will film the second scene at his house.

Production: Establishing Shots

Welcome back to the blog, yesterday I began filming some of the establishing shots of our film introduction. This includes the house rattling in the wind. The rainy weather allowed me to film this as it brought rain and wind, enhancing the shots overall atmosphere. The shots are slightly different than the ones mentioned in the script due to location restraints however, they still fit the overall film introduction. Today we intend to film the rest of the film introduction so we will be finished by the end of the week so that we can begin editing next week.

Planning: Casting

Welcome back to the blog, today we worked on deciding what roles each member of our group will play. The three of us have decided who will act, record, and edit. For acting I will act as the first person in the film introduction while Gino will film. Rayan will be there to move the stuffed animal and set up the scene. Then for the next scene Gino will act and Rayan will film, I will be there to set up the scene. Then me and Rayan will work on the editing together while Gino provides assistance. Now that we have all of our roles in place we are ready to film.

Planning: Story Finalization

Welcome back to the blog, after careful consideration and discussion we have we have finalized our story, I have included it below.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Fade in:

    Outside Old House

A dim, fading sun casts long shadows over a run-down house. The wind howls softly, rattling a loose shutter.

    Dark Storage Closet

A man named Robert (rugged, tired) wearing work gloves and rough clothes sorts through old belongings. Boxes are scattered around the room. He wipes sweat from his brow, sighs, and opens a box.

Inside the box: A small, worn-out stuffed animal with black button eyes stares back.

The man chuckles.

Robert- "Someone must have really loved this thing"

He places the stuffed animal on a nearby shelf and resumes his cleaning. Dust rises as he moves items around.

A few minutes later, he opens another box. His face looks in it with confusion.

Inside the box: The same stuffed animal.

He glances at the shelf empty. He shudders but shakes it off.

    Robert- "No way"

He quickly places the stuffed animal back in the box, shuts it, and seals it with tape. He sets it aside and keeps working.

As he reaches for an old lamp, something shifts on the shelf.

A faint sound. Almost like... giggling.

The man freezes, his breath weary. He turns slowly.

Nothing.

He shakes his head and keeps cleaning. The room is silent, except for the occasional creak of the room.

Then—

A sudden rustling sound behind him. He whirls around—

He steps toward the box, peels back the tape—

    Empty

His eyes dart around the room, his breathing heavy. A slow realization creeps over him: he's not alone.

    Robert-"This aint funny..."

He turns—

The stuffed animal leaps from the shadows

It clamps onto the man's face. Muffled screams fill the room as he stumbles back, crashing into boxes. Blood splatters across the dusty floorboards. - (We might replace this if it is too hard to film and replace it with screen cutting to black and scream)

Smash cut to black.

Silence.

    Fade in:

    Old house

A new man named James (work clothes, earbuds in, clean looking) casually picks up a taped box from the table.

He doesn’t notice the faint streaks of blood on the floor.

As he exits, the camera lingers on the box in his hands. A muffled giggle echoes from within.

    Fade to black.

    Text fades in:

               *Title*

    Fade out

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This story seems to be a great one for our film introduction due to its interesting shots and horror elements. We may make some basic changes for the sake of filming, but this is our finished one. Over the coming days we begin to obtain all the props that we need and then we will begin filming.
